It’s Valentine’s Day coming up soon

You don’t want to hear about it? Well then be prepared, this is not a typical Valentine’s Day article. 

The reason I am writing this blog is simple: I have heard too many discussions over time, and I would like to empty my mind about what I think about it. 

So yes, you are right to the ones who say it is capitalized and it is only for people to make money. Not totally, but I hear your point. 

I get it when you tell me: I do not need to show my love on that one particular day. 

I understand you telling me: I don’t care about Valentine’s. 

And I totally feel you, girls, if you want that little piece of romance in your life. 

So what’s the point: is it commercialized? Yes, it probably is. Is it true that you do not need to show your love on that particular day? Yes, it probably is. (But let me ask you a question: do you show it any other day?) Is it ok to not care about Valentine’s? Yes, it probably is. 

BUT! What if you would care? What if you would show some affection even though it is commercialized, even though you don’t care, and even though you think you do not need to show your love on this day? If you don’t care about it, what makes it so difficult then, to show it on this day, if it is a day like every other for you? 

Or to put it in other words: you are right, in the perfect relationship, there are hopefully more days that feel like Valentine’s Day. And there is no need to buy flowers or sweets on Valentine’s. But maybe you can ask your beloved one if they would enjoy some romance on that day. And figure out something special that does not even necessarily need to cost money, but touches the heart?
