Nobody is perfect – and nobody needs to be.
Confession. If I am in thoughts, a bit short on time, or sick, I tend to be more focused. Which is a nice way of saying: I am less nice, if you meet me, I will probably forget to ask how you are or show a lot of interest in your life.
And this is not because I don’t have any, it is simply a way of coping with a situation, that needs more of my energy. And sometimes I don’t even realize it, only after it happened, and I feel my interest in others coming back, I notice that eventually, I did not give others enough attention.
Is this something that happens to you? Don’t worry. It is perfectly normal. And most importantly, you should not only see it as to be normal but moreover, you should see it as something that is important to grant to you. Sometimes, you need time and focus on yourself. In case you are ill, you need your energy for getting back to health. When you are trying to solve a problem, you need to focus your energy on that problem. And if you are short on time in a positive way, you need to stay focused on what you are doing to avoid unnecessary stress.
And you can relax – there is nothing to do about it, in fact, it is perfectly fine to take that time and focus that you need for yourself and use it. It is ok to say no to others in order to say yes to yourself. Once you are done with whatever it was that needed your attention, you can come back and make up for what you missed.
